SHORTS / MUSIC VIDEOS

International Shorts

INTERNATIONAL SHORTS
In recent years more and more established filmmakers have been going back to shooting short films, acknowledging that shorts are an exciting and innovative genre in itself. For our three programs Plot to Shoot, Viva l’Animation, and The Surreal, Grotesque, Bizarre & Absurd we have scouted work that is standing out from the rest – the most intriguing stories, stunning animations and some pretty twisted dark tales.

DUTCHMIX SHORTS

DUTCHMIX SHORTS
The third edition of DutchMix brings together established Dutch filmmakers and a new breed of Dutch talent in a programme that offers an overview of the best work in the past year. DutchMix 2008 is proof of the diverse and strong home-grown talent out there and all of the films of this program can doubtlessly assert themselves in the international film world.

CUTTING-EDGE DUTCH MUSIC VIDEO

CUTTING-EDGE MUSIC VIDEOS
Music videos at a film festival? Yes, as we strongly believe that music videos can be more than just ads for songs! They are a completely independent form of visualization and this is why in 2008 IAFF introduces this new award-category where we will showcase the most cutting-edge and visually exceptional International and Dutch music videos.

Submarine Channel

SUBMARINE CHANNEL BEST OF 2008

"NEXT GEN" COMMERCIALS

Next Gen

This year IAFF is introducing a new annual program category - NEXT GEN COMMERCIAL, specifically targeting the creative industry in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam Hero Award for 'Next Gen Commercial' strives to be an additional impulse for new talented young creatives, working or with the ambition to be working in the world of advertising. IAFF encourages them to keep on pursuing their creative minds instead of conforming to a sometimes dictating log advertising/ marketing world. Guest curator Patrick van Haperen (concept developer / creative at PH/Law) will be putting together a program of the most daring, original, and artistically provocative commercials in IAFF's new category 'Next Gen Commercial'.

AMSTERDAM HERO AWARDS

Hero awards

IAFF brings its focus on new filmmakers with the creation of a new
international prize - the AMSTERDAM HERO AWARD - dedicated to daring, innovative and engaging video productions.

The selected titles will compete in the following categories:

Best Feature Film
Most Creative Documentary
Best Dutch Short Film
Best International Short Film
Most Cutting-Edge Dutch Music Video
Next Gen Commercial

A jury composed by IAFF official guests (filmmakers, artists, critics and curators) will be called to judge and hand out the awards during the festival closing evening.
