International Amsterdam Film Festival in cooperation with
Binger Lab are proud to present the 2008 annual lecture to be
given by Christine Vachon.
The highly acclaimed producer will express her views on
independent filmmaking, diversity and artistic inspiration.
Short bio:
Christine Vachon produced Todd Haynes' controversial first feature, Poison,
which was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival.
Since then, she continued to produce some of the most acclaimed American
independent films through her label Killer Films.
Far From Heaven (nominated for four Academy Awards), Boy's Don't Cry
(Academy Award winner), I Shot Andy Warhol, One Hour Photo, Hedwig and the
Angry Inch, Happiness, Velvet Goldmine, SAFE, Go Fish and Swoon are all films
that each on its own created controversy as well as success.
Recent releases include Todd Haynes' “I'm Not There” for which Cate Blanchett
received both Academy Award and SAG Award nominations for Best Supporting
Actress and “Gigantic” by Matt Aselton which premiered at Toronto.
Christine's new book, "A KILLER LIFE: HOW AN INDEPENDENT FILM PRODUCER SURVIVES DEAL AND DISASTERS IN HOLLYWOOD AND BEYOND" was published in September 2006 by Simon and Schuster. Her first book, "SHOOTING TO KILL" was published in the fall of 1998 by Avon, and was a Los Angeles Times bestseller.
